Edible Playdough for Toddlers

My toddler is very active and sometimes gets overstimulated. I’m in need of fun activities that keep her in one spot, working with her hands. Activities like this help keep her centered and calm – and tantrums come less often.

Today we made some edible Playdough, tossed it in a bowl, and stuck some toys in there. Voila! The whole batch took about 5 minutes to make. I stuck with one color this time, but in the future I will try a couple more.

1 cup flour

1/2 cup salt

2 tbsp cream of tartar

1 tbsp oil

Food coloring

1 cup boiling water

Combine all ingredients, except boiling water, in a bowl. (Note: I mixed the food coloring later with the water)

Add the boiling water and mix well.

Roll Playdough out and let cool. Then, play!

This will be a fun activity to continue doing when we are stuck inside all winter! Enjoy!
